Summer is synonymous with breezy, twilight soirees and as Georg Jensen’s Head of Asia Pacific Anne Sullivan suggests, “When I think of summer dinner parties, I think of effortless entertaining. Bringing a Danish sense of hygge to your table setting or garden party.”
That feeling of coziness and contentment can be infused into an outdoor setting, with earthly, natural and minimalistic textures trending this summer. “Nature is used for inspiration in our design process, and I like to bring elements of nature and light into my own entertaining style where possible,” says Anne.
Anne suggests starting off table settings with a white on white colour theme as it's easy on the eye and allows the food to be the hero.
“The whiteness is complemented by the glow of candlelight from our beautiful Koppel hurricane candle holders. The combination of polished metal and frosted glass makes the lamp a sculptural object of beauty in itself and whether stood alone or arranged in groups, the warm soft light will illuminate your summer evenings,” says Anne.
Incorporating lush greenery is another easy way to celebrate the shift in seasons and works beautifully when complemented with rich, earthy hues.
“When styling inside the home, you may choose to bring the outside in with accents of foliage. The Terra collection of plant pots adds a layer of contemporary design and organic forms to your setting with the use of terracotta. This is for the entertainer with an innovative flare. The addition of greenery allows you to create a truly Australian atmosphere for your summer entertaining, with a sophisticated yet relaxed feel.”
Georg Jensen’s Melbourne flagship store is now open at 80 Collins, Monday - Sunday between 10am - 6pm.
